Cracked Actor (Live Los Angeles ’74)
Cracked Actor (Live Los Angeles '74) is a live album by David Bowie, released in 2017. It captures a show from the Diamond Dogs Tour in September 1974, produced by Bowie and mixed by Tony Visconti. Some material from the tour also featured in the BBC documentary Cracked Actor, which gave the album its name. It came out as a Record Store Day release in the US on 22 April 2017, with a wider CD release from Parlophone in the UK and Europe on 16 June.
It sits apart from David Live, the first live album from the same tour. The band here leans more towards R&B, with Earl Slick and Carlos Alomar alongside backing singer Luther Vandross. The setlist also includes songs recorded for The Gouster, an album that later turned into Young Americans. The full show runs across five vinyl sides, with an etching of Bowie on the sixth.
