Live Santa Monica ’72
Live Santa Monica '72 captures David Bowie on the Ziggy Stardust Tour, recorded at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium on 20 October 1972. The recording comes from a broadcast on KMET FM, and for more than twenty years it circulated only as a bootleg. Author David Buckley suggested that owning a copy was the test of a "proper Bowie fan".
The Golden Years label put it out in 1994, without Bowie's approval, and Griffin Music handled the American release the following year. It arrived long after The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars came out in 1972, and it gives a snapshot of that glam rock era on stage. For anyone who loves the Ziggy period, it is a well-loved document of the tour.
