Album
Born Villain
Born Villain is the eighth studio album by Marilyn Manson, released on 25 April 2012. It was the band's first record without drummer Ginger Fish, who had been in the line-up since 1995, and the only one to feature Fred Sablan. Manson co-produced it with former Nine Inch Nails member Chris Vrenna and had a bigger hand in the writing than on earlier releases. A surrealist short film of the same name came ahead of it.
The sound sits in industrial rock and alternative metal, and it includes some of the heaviest material the band had recorded. Critics were divided: some heard a comeback, others balked at the heaviness and violent lyrics. "No Reflection" earned a Grammy nomination, and the record reached the US top ten. Look out for the bonus cover of Carly Simon's "You're So Vain", with Johnny Depp joining in.
