Lest We Forget: The Best Of
Lest We Forget: The Best Of is Marilyn Manson's 2004 greatest hits collection, released on 28 September 2004 by Interscope Records. It arrived after The Golden Age of Grotesque and was conceived by frontman Marilyn Manson as a "farewell compilation". A duet with Garbage's Shirley Manson was planned, but neither singer was happy with the result, and it has never come out.
In its place, the band recorded a cover of Depeche Mode's "Personal Jesus", the only new song on the record and its single. The deluxe edition adds a DVD of sixteen videos, including the uncensored cut of "Saint", previously unreleased. Critics were mostly positive and several praised the track selection. It did well too, selling over 78,000 copies in its first week in the US and passing a million there by late 2010. It reached the top ten in the UK, Germany, Austria, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland, and the band toured it on the Against All Gods Tour.
