EP
Smells Like Children
Smells Like Children is Marilyn Manson's first EP, released on 24 October 1995 through Nothing and Interscope. Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails produced it. It began as a plan for a remix single of "Dope Hat", but contributions from engineer Dave Ogilvie and Nine Inch Nails live keyboardist Charlie Clouser, plus fresh material from the band, turned it into something stranger and more varied.
It sits between debut album Portrait of an American Family and Antichrist Superstar, and everything on it was written during the touring for that first record. It is also the first Manson release with Twiggy Ramirez on bass and Ginger Fish on drums. The Child Catcher from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang haunts its sound experiments, and the cover of Eurythmics' "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)" became a fixture on MTV and took the band into the mainstream. The EP went platinum in the US.
