Space Cakes

Space Cakes is a live acoustic EP by Alanis Morissette, issued by Maverick and released only in Japan on 25 October 1995. It gathers stripped-back versions of songs from Jagged Little Pill, her third studio album, which was the record that defined her mid-nineties breakthrough. Elsewhere, these same performances turned up as B-sides rather than as a release of their own.

The tracks were recorded on 9 June 1995 at the NOB studios in Hilversum, in the Netherlands, for Jan Douwe Kroeske's radio programme 2 Meter Sessies. A further recording from the session, "Hand in My Pocket", went unreleased at the time, though it has been broadcast. For anyone wanting to hear the songs without the full band, this is a neat companion piece, and all seven tracks were later added as bonus material to the Target-exclusive deluxe edition of Jagged Little Pill, released on 30 October 2015.
