The Storm Before the Calm
The Storm Before the Calm is Alanis Morissette's tenth studio album, and the eighth to be released internationally. It came out on 17 June 2022 on her own Epiphany Music label, with Thirty Tigers handling it alongside and RCA Records releasing it in Europe. It follows Such Pretty Forks in the Road from 2020.
This is a meditation record rather than a rock one. It is an ambient, electronic set co-written and produced with Dave Harrington, known for his work in the duo Darkside. If you know her mainly through Jagged Little Pill, expect something very different: slow, spacious and built for quiet listening. The album is available on streaming services and on the meditation app Calm, which suits its purpose well.
