Dude Ranch
Dude Ranch is the second studio album from blink-182, released on 17 June 1997. The San Diego trio had formed in 1992 in the local skate-punk scene and built a following by touring relentlessly. As major labels began to take an interest in punk, the band put the record out on the independent Cargo Music, with MCA Records handling distribution. It is the last album to feature all three original members, as drummer Scott Raynor left the band in 1998.
The songs were largely written on the road, and they pair the band's goofy sense of humour with thoughts on growing up, relationships and time passing. Producer Mark Trombino, chosen for his work in emo, pushed them towards tighter playing and sweeter harmonies. "Dammit" broke through on modern rock radio and helped carry the band onto long tours, including four months on the Warped Tour. The album went platinum in the US, and its cowboy artwork is gloriously silly.
