Love and Hate in Dub
Love and Hate in Dub is a remix album by Godflesh, the English industrial metal band, released in June 1997 on Earache Records. It was the group's first record of its kind, and it sits directly after Songs of Love and Hate, the 1996 studio album that supplies all of its source material.
Rather than simply rework the originals in the same heavy mould, the remixes lean towards a more ambient, dub-flavoured approach, with touches of drum and bass. It is a chance to hear the band's crushing material stretched into something spacier and more experimental, and it suits listeners curious about the electronic side of Godflesh as much as the guitar-driven side. It also falls between Songs of Love and Hate and the studio album Us and Them, which arrived in 1999.
