Purge
Purge is the ninth studio album by the English industrial metal band Godflesh, released on 9 June 2023 on Daymare Recordings. It was announced on 1 March 2023, and the first single, "Nero", arrived on 3 April alongside three in-house remixes.
The record looks back to Pure, the band's 1992 second album, revisiting and updating the ideas explored there. Its title points to how frontman Justin Broadrick uses Godflesh's music as a temporary relief from his diagnosed autism and PTSD. It follows Post Self from 2017 in the band's run of albums, and it is worth hearing for the way it ties a personal purpose to a return to an earlier chapter of their story.
