Slavestate
Slavestate is the second EP from Godflesh, the English industrial metal band. It came out in 1991 on Earache Records, following their debut album Streetcleaner in 1989 and arriving a year before Pure.
The record is a step towards the electronic side of their sound. Where their earlier releases leaned mainly on industrial metal, here the band brought in more samples and electronic textures. That makes it a useful marker of the direction they were exploring between their first album and the records that followed, and a good listen for anyone curious how far Godflesh could stretch their heavy, mechanical approach.
