Blessed Are the Sick is the second studio album by Morbid Angel, the American death metal band, and it came out in May 1991 on Earache Records. It follows their debut, Altars of Madness, from 1989, and it is regarded in the same way as that record: a seminal release from the years when death metal was still taking shape as a genre.

For anyone tracing the band's story, it is the middle point between the debut and Covenant, which arrived in 1993. It is the record that shows where Morbid Angel went next after setting the bar so high, and it is well worth hearing alongside its predecessor to understand how the genre's early sound developed. Riffology has a piece on the album's place in the band's evolution if you want the wider story.
