Machine
Machine is the second studio album by American industrial metal band Static-X, released on 22 May 2001 through Warner Bros. Records. It was recorded at Studio 508 in Los Angeles and follows their 1999 debut, Wisconsin Death Trip. The record is filed under alternative metal, industrial metal and nu metal, and it sits right at the point where those scenes overlapped.
Compared with the rest of the band's catalogue, Machine leans harder on electronics and industrial effects, and Wayne Static screams more often than he does elsewhere. It was also the last studio album to feature all four original members, a line-up that did not return on record until Project: Regeneration Vol. 1 in 2020, which was built from archival material Static left behind after his death in 2014. For anyone wanting the band at their most mechanical, this is the place to start.
