Cult of Static

Cult of Static is the sixth studio album from American industrial metal band Static-X, released on 17 March 2009 through Reprise Records. Its first single, "Stingwray", appeared on the band's MySpace page a month earlier, on 17 February. The title is a nod to the die-hard fans who had stuck with the band for so long, which gives the record a warm, thank-you-to-the-faithful feel.

It follows Cannibal from 2007 and closes a chapter in the band's story. It was their last album for Reprise, the last they made with John Travis, and the final one to feature drummer Nick Oshiro and founding vocalist Wayne Static in his lifetime. Eleven years passed before the next Static-X studio release, and Wayne's posthumous work later surfaced on the Project Regeneration albums. For long-time followers, this is where that first era ends.
