Silver Side Up
Silver Side Up is Nickelback's third studio album, following Curb and The State, and it came out on 11 September 2001 on Roadrunner Records. It sits in the Canadian band's story as the record that took them well beyond home. It reached number one in Canada, Austria, Ireland, New Zealand and the UK, and went 8× Platinum in Canada, 6× Platinum in the US and 3× Platinum in the UK.
The sound is post-grunge shading into hard rock and alternative metal, carrying on what AllMusic described as the band's "dark high-octane rock" from their first two albums. A world tour followed, including their first UK arena run, and when the band got home they began work on The Long Road. If you want to hear the record that set Nickelback's course for the years ahead, this is the place to start.
