We Are Not Your Kind
We Are Not Your Kind is Slipknot's sixth studio album, released on 9 August 2019 through Roadrunner Records. It was recorded at EastWest Studios in Hollywood with Greg Fidelman, who had also co-produced .5: The Gray Chapter in 2014. Jim Root and Clown began writing and demoing in early 2017, and the band ended up with 22 songs and 26 interludes, at one point with a double album in mind. The title comes from a lyric in "All Out Life", the 2018 standalone single.
It is the only Slipknot record made as an eight-piece, after percussionist Chris Fehn was dismissed in March 2019. Critics praised its experimentation and many ranked it among the band's strongest work, with some calling it a modern landmark for heavy metal. Try "Unsainted", "Solway Firth" and "Birth of the Cruel" first. It debuted at number 1 on the US Billboard 200, the band's third album in a row to do so.
