The Burning Red is the third studio album by American heavy metal band Machine Head, released in August 1999 on Roadrunner Records. It follows Burn My Eyes and The More Things Change…, and it marks a change of direction: the band's first venture into nu metal, folded into their groove metal foundations. It was also the first record to feature guitarist Ahrue Luster.

The shift found an audience. The album sold as many copies in three years as the debut had managed in almost eight, making it the band's second best-selling record in the US, with over 134,000 copies sold there. In the UK it was certified silver by the BPI in 2011. It's worth hearing for anyone curious about how Machine Head sounded at the turn of the millennium, before Supercharger followed in 2001.
