Year of the Dragon Tour Diary: Japan
Year of the Dragon Tour Diary: Japan is a compilation from Machine Head, released by Roadrunner Records on 5 July 2000. It arrived a year after The Burning Red, the 1999 album on which the band shifted its musical direction and drew accusations of selling out from some quarters.
It sits in the middle of a turbulent stretch for the California band, formed in 1991 by Robb Flynn and Adam Duce. Burn My Eyes and The More Things Change… had set out their stall in the 1990s, and Supercharger followed in 2001. For anyone tracing how Machine Head moved from that early work towards The Blackening in 2007, this release is a useful marker of where they stood around the turn of the millennium.
