Brave New World
Brave New World is Iron Maiden's twelfth studio album, released on 29 May 2000 through Parlophone. It marked a reunion of sorts: singer Bruce Dickinson, who had left in 1993, and guitarist Adrian Smith, who had gone in 1990, both returned in 1999. Janick Gers, who had stepped in for Smith, stayed on, so this was the first Maiden studio record made by a six-piece band.
The title track nods to Aldous Huxley's novel, and the cover combines work by Derek Riggs on the upper half with digital artist Steve Stone's on the lower. "The Wicker Man" and "Out of the Silent Planet" were released as singles. The album reached No. 7 in the UK and went Gold there. The tour that followed produced a live album and video recorded at Rock in Rio, which is a good next stop once the studio record has done its work.
