Further Down the Spiral
Further Down the Spiral is the remix companion to Nine Inch Nails' second studio album, The Downward Spiral. It arrived in May 1995 on Nothing Records, and it came in two versions with different track lists: Halo 10 for the United States, and Halo 10 V2 for Japan, Australia and the UK.
Rather than a simple set of dance-floor reworkings, it takes the source material somewhere stranger. Remixes of "Mr. Self Destruct", "Piggy", "Hurt", "Eraser", "Heresy", "Reptile", "Ruiner" and the title track come from a notable roster, including Coil with Danny Hyde, JG Thirlwell, and Rick Rubin with Dave Navarro. Aphex Twin adds two original pieces of his own. The record went gold in the US and remains one of the best-selling remix albums ever, which says plenty for how well it holds up beside its parent album.
