Not the Actual Events
Not the Actual Events is a Nine Inch Nails EP, released in December 2016 on Trent Reznor's own label, The Null Corporation. It is only the second EP of original material from the band, following Broken in 1992, and it is the first release to credit longtime collaborator Atticus Ross as an official member of the group.
It opens a trilogy that continues with Add Violence in 2017 and the album Bad Witch in 2018. Critics welcomed its return to the band's older, more abrasive sound, a mix of industrial and noise rock. It debuted at number 26 in the US. For anyone who wants to hear Reznor and Ross sharpening their approach before the next two releases, this is the place to start.
