Monotheist
Monotheist is the sixth and final studio album by the Swiss extreme metal band Celtic Frost. It came out in May 2006 on Scarecrow Records, and it marked the band's first new recording in 16 years. Its genre is given as doom metal, a heavier and slower turn from the sound of earlier records.
The group's studio run began with Morbid Tales in 1984 and continued through To Mega Therion, Into the Pandemonium, Cold Lake and Vanity / Nemesis, which closed that first chapter in 1990. Monotheist stands apart as the return after a long silence, and it also serves as the band's last word. Reviews were largely positive, so it is worth hearing for anyone who followed Celtic Frost from the start or wants to hear how they sounded after the break.
