Morbid Tales
Morbid Tales is the first release from Celtic Frost, the Swiss extreme metal band, and it began life as a six-track mini-LP on Noise Records. It came out on 24 June 1984, and its sound sits across black metal, thrash and heavy metal.
The following year, American editions on Enigma (LP) and Metal Blade (cassette) added two more tracks, bringing it up to the length of a full studio album. The band now treats that extended version as their true debut album, even though To Mega Therion, also from 1985, is usually given that place in the discography. Noise remastered it in 1999 on an expanded CD that also carried the Emperor's Return EP tracks, and again in 2017 on CD and vinyl. It is the starting point for anyone tracing how the band's story unfolds.
