Renewal
Renewal is Kreator's sixth studio album, released in October 1992 on Noise International. The German thrash metal band had spent the 1980s building their name with records like Pleasure to Kill and Extreme Aggression, and here they stepped away from the formula for the first time. It is the first of their albums to be described as experimental.
The big change is the arrival of industrial influences in the songwriting, which sets it apart from what came before it and after it in their catalogue. "Karmic Wheel" includes audio samples from the suicide of R. Budd Dwyer, and the title track was given a music video. It was also the last album to feature original bassist Rob Fioretti, so it marks the end of one chapter for the band. Worth hearing for anyone curious about Kreator in a more adventurous mood.
