Cause for Conflict
Cause for Conflict is Kreator's seventh studio album, released on 23 August 1995 through Noise Records. It follows Renewal, and it carries on that record's flirtation with industrial music while pulling back towards the band's thrash roots. Groove metal also finds its way into the mix, so the album sits at an interesting crossroads between old habits and new ideas.
It is a record of changes in the line-up. Joe Cangelosi plays drums here in place of founding drummer Jürgen "Ventor" Reil, who came back the following year, making this the only Kreator album with Cangelosi. Christian Giesler joins on bass for the first time, and guitarist Frank "Blackfire" Gosdzik makes his final appearance. For anyone tracing how Kreator moved through the 1990s, it is a revealing stop.
