Album
Coma of Souls
Coma of Souls is the fifth studio album by German thrash band Kreator, released on 6 November 1990 through Epic. It followed Extreme Aggression from 1989 and arrived with a change in the line-up, as lead guitarist Frank "Blackfire" Gosdzik joined for the first time, having previously played with Sodom.
The record also marks a turning point in the band's story. It was the last Kreator album before they began experimenting with influences from other genres, so it stands as the end of their straight thrash run of the era, with Renewal following in 1992. It was also the last Kreator record issued in the United States by Epic. For anyone tracing how the band moved from the ferocity of their mid-eighties records towards something more adventurous, this is the album to hear at that crossroads.
