Hordes of Chaos

Hordes of Chaos is Kreator's twelfth studio album, released on 13 January 2009 through Icarus Music. It follows Enemy of God from 2005 and was the first time the German thrash band had kept the same line-up across at least two albums. It arrived in a standard ten-track edition, a deluxe version with a making-of documentary DVD, and an LP with its own artwork.

What sets it apart is how it was made. Apart from vocals, guitar solos and some melodies, the band recorded it in a live setting on analogue tape with few overdubs, something they hadn't done since Pleasure to Kill in 1986. Mille Petrozza described it as combining the best moments of their back catalogue with the intensity of 2009. It also became their first album to chart in the United States, debuting at number 165 on the Billboard 200.
