Surgical Steel
Surgical Steel is the sixth studio album by Carcass, the English extreme metal band, and their first since Swansong in 1996. It came out in September 2013, and it brought a changed line-up: Dan Wilding took over on drums from original drummer Ken Owen, who still contributes backing vocals. It was also the first Carcass record since Symphonies of Sickness in 1989 to be made as a three-piece.
For anyone who loved the band's early work or the melodic bite of Heartwork, this is the return to hear. It sits within death metal and melodic death metal, and it gave Carcass their first album in the UK Top 50, a fitting reward for a comeback that arrived after seventeen years away.
