Best of Carcass
Best of Carcass is a compilation from 1997, issued through Toy's Factory. It gathers the work of the English extreme metal band, who formed in 1985 and, at the time of its release, had only recently split, having called it a day in 1996.
It arrives a year after their final studio album of that first run, Swansong, so it works as a look back over a career that began with Reek of Putrefaction in 1988 and took in Symphonies of Sickness, Necroticism: Descanting the Insalubrious and Heartwork along the way. For anyone coming to the band's death metal for the first time, a collection like this offers a way into a catalogue that later grew with their return in 2007 and the albums Surgical Steel and Torn Arteries.
