Tools of the Trade
Tools of the Trade is an EP from the English extreme metal band Carcass, released by Earache Records in 1992. It sits in the run between Necroticism: Descanting the Insalubrious in 1991 and Heartwork in 1993, a stretch when the band were pushing their death metal and grindcore into more developed territory.
The EP is built around two re-recordings of earlier material. "Pyosisified (Rotten to the Gore)" first appeared on their debut album Reek of Putrefaction, while "Hepatic Tissue Fermentation" originally turned up on a compilation called Pathological. Hearing them again gives you a chance to compare the band's early songs with how they sounded by this point in their career. It is a small release, but a handy one for anyone tracing Carcass from their gory beginnings.
