Utopia Banished
Utopia Banished is the fourth studio album by Napalm Death, the British grindcore band. It came out in May 1992 on Earache Records, following Harmony Corruption from 1990. It was the first record to feature Danny Herrera on drums, after Mick Harris left the band.
The album sits at the point where Napalm Death's grindcore roots meet a heavier, death metal-leaning approach, which is reflected in the genres it's tagged with: grindcore, death metal and deathgrind. It's worth hearing as the start of the Herrera era, and as a snapshot of the band at the start of the 1990s. Metal Hammer placed it among the 20 best metal albums of 1992, a good sign that it held its own in a crowded year for heavy music.
