Order of the Leech
Order of the Leech is Napalm Death's tenth studio album, following Enemy of the Music Business from 2000 and coming ahead of Leaders Not Followers: Part 2 in 2004. It was released on 21 October 2002, and it sits in the grindcore, death metal and deathgrind corner of the band's catalogue.
There's a bit of studio sleight of hand behind it. Jesse Pintado is credited in the line-up but never played on the record; Mitch Harris overdubbed the second guitar part, which gives the album the line-up the band still has today. It also closes a loose trilogy of releases built around spoken soundbites, alongside the Leaders Not Followers EP and Enemy of the Music Business. The final track, "The Great Capitulator", runs to 2:49, then goes quiet for several minutes before a fan's talk about metal, name-checking Krabathor and Immortal, fades in and is translated into Czech. It's a curious sign-off worth hearing.
