One by One
One by One is the fourth studio album by Foo Fighters, released in the UK and Europe on 21 October 2002 and in the US the following day. It came out on RCA, and it arrived after a difficult start: early recording sessions left the band unsatisfied and tense, so they began again and rebuilt the record in about two weeks at Dave Grohl's home studio in Alexandria, Virginia.
The result is heavier and more aggressive than their earlier work, with introspective lyrics. Grohl wanted it to capture the energy of their live shows. It was the first album with guitarist Chris Shiflett in the line-up, and the first on which Taylor Hawkins handled the drums throughout. "All My Life" and "Times Like These" were the singles, and the album went to number one in the UK, Ireland and Australia, and won the Grammy for Best Rock Album.
