Human
Human is the fourth studio album by Death, the American death metal band, and it arrived on 22 October 1991. It came out through Relativity Records in the United States and Roadrunner Records in Europe and elsewhere. Coming after Spiritual Healing, it carries on that record's shift towards high technicality and more introspective lyrics, moving the band further from the gore-soaked subject matter of their early days.
The line-up is what sets it apart. Cynic members Paul Masvidal (guitar) and Sean Reinert (drums) play on this album only, and Steve Di Giorgio makes his first appearance on bass. That mix of players gives the music its intricate, shifting character. It is now counted among Death's finest albums and as one of the most influential technical death metal records ever made, so it is well worth hearing if you want to know where the style found its feet.
