Spiritual Healing
Spiritual Healing is the third studio album by the American death metal band Death, released in February 1990 on Combat Records. It follows Scream Bloody Gore and Leprosy, and it marks a clear turn in direction. Where those first two records dealt in gore and straightforward death metal, this one looks at social evils in its lyrics and plays with a more technical edge.
The line-up is worth noting too. It is the only Death album to feature both guitarist James Murphy and bassist Terry Butler, and the last to feature drummer Bill Andrews. Listeners were divided on the change when it appeared, which makes it a fascinating record to hear as the band moved towards the sound of Human in 1991.
