Songs to No One 1991–1992
Songs to No One 1991–1992 gathers studio sessions, home tapes and club performances from the partnership between Jeff Buckley and guitarist Gary Lucas. The two worked together for eight months, from August 1991 to April 1992. The compilation came out on Recall in October 2002.
It sits before the story most people know, since Buckley's solo career only began with his 1994 debut, Grace. Here you can hear a young singer and his collaborator finding their way, and the recordings work as an archive of how both of them were developing as musicians. For anyone who loves Grace and wants to know where its rock and alternative leanings first took shape, it's a worthwhile listen.
