I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love
I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love is the debut album by My Chemical Romance, released on 23 July 2002 through Eyeball Records. Geoff Rickly produced it at Nada Recording Studio in New Windsor, New York, and the whole thing was recorded in just seven days. Its eleven songs mix post-hardcore, emo and punk, and circle around depression, anger and disillusionment. Some fans hear a concept album in it, though the links between tracks are mostly their own.
It made little noise at first, with scarce reviews and no chart presence until 2004. That was the year Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge arrived, and attention gradually followed. Critics remained divided on the lyrics and composition, but its style set it apart from the emo of its day, and it has been influential on the genre. Singles included "Honey, This Mirror Isn't Big Enough for the Two of Us" and "Headfirst for Halos". It has since gone gold in the UK.
