Heathen Chemistry
Heathen Chemistry is the fifth studio album by Oasis, released in July 2002. It was the first record made with guitarist Gem Archer and bassist Andy Bell, who joined after Standing on the Shoulder of Giants was finished, and the last to feature drummer Alan White, who left in early 2004. Recorded at Wheeler End Studios and Olympic Studios in London, it steps away from the psychedelic feel of its predecessor and the huge production of Be Here Now, returning to the straightforward rock sound of the first two albums.
It is also where Oasis became less of a one-songwriter band, with members other than Noel Gallagher making a real contribution. That includes "Songbird", the first Oasis single written by Liam Gallagher. The album produced four UK top five singles, among them the number one "The Hindu Times" and "Stop Crying Your Heart Out". Reviews were mixed, but it topped the UK chart and went 4× platinum.
