Dead to the World
Dead to the World is the eighth studio album by American alternative metal band Helmet, released on 28 October 2016. It arrived six years after Seeing Eye Dog (2010), the longest gap in the band's run of records since their 1990 debut, Strap It On. "Bad News" was the first song to appear, premiering on 5 October.
The record is also a point of change for the group. It is their first release on earMUSIC and the first to feature bassist Dave Case. For anyone who has followed Helmet from Meantime and Betty onwards, it is a chance to hear how the band sounded in the middle of the 2010s, with alternative metal and alternative rock still at the heart of what they do. It sits between Seeing Eye Dog and the later album Left (2023).
