Born Annoying
Born Annoying is a compilation of early Helmet material, released on 21 April 1995 by Amphetamine Reptile Records. It gathers singles, B-sides, tracks from other compilations and assorted rarities recorded between the band's formation in 1989 and their signing to Interscope in 1992. Two songs from 1993, "Primitive" and "Born Annoying", also appeared on Amphetamine Reptile and are included here.
For anyone who came to the New York band through Meantime and Betty, it fills in the story before the major-label years. It shows the alternative metal and post-hardcore sound taking shape on the independent label that first backed them. The cover is a bronze-tinted version of the photo used on the "Born Annoying" 7" single, a neat link back to the record's origins.
