On the Sunday of Life… is the debut album from Porcupine Tree, released on 21 April 1992 through Delerium Records. It gathers material Steven Wilson had produced and recorded for two cassette-only releases, Tarquin's Seaweed Farm and The Nostalgia Factory, so it works as a first proper album built from home-recorded tapes. "Radioactive Toy" was re-recorded for it, and a few other tracks run about a minute shorter than their earlier versions.

Most of the lyrics came from Alan Duffy, a school friend Wilson had lost touch with. "Nine Cats" goes back to at least 1983, when Wilson's earlier band Karma recorded it. The record first appeared in a gatefold sleeve, limited to 1,000 copies, and went on to sell more than 20,000. It's a fascinating look at the psychedelic, experimental roots of a band that went much further.
