Metanoia is a compilation from Porcupine Tree, first released on 7 December 1998 on Chromatic Records. It began as a limited run of 1,000 copies on 10" double vinyl. Most of it comes from improvisations recorded during the Signify sessions, with some of those jams later reshaped into proper songs. The artwork features paintings by Frans Janssen, designed by Carl Glover.

For anyone who knows the band mainly through Stupid Dream, this is a very different listen. One review called it the antithesis of that record and every bit as brilliant, singling out Chris Maitland and Colin Edwin for their finesse and energy. "Mesmer I" became the basis for the tour-only piece "Cryogenics", which resurfaced in a live version on the 2020 EP Coma: Coda (Rome 1997). A CD followed in December 2001 with extra single tracks, and the original pressing is now rare.
