Album
The Incident
The Incident is Porcupine Tree's tenth studio album, released in September 2009 on Roadrunner Records. The British progressive rock band chose a double album for it, giving the music a lot of room after Fear of a Blank Planet, which came out in 2007. It reached the top 25 on both the US and UK albums charts.
It also marks a turning point in the band's story. This was the last Porcupine Tree record to feature bassist Colin Edwin, and the last before a long hiatus that lasted until 2021. The next studio album, Closure / Continuation, did not arrive until 2022. The Incident was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Surround Sound Album, which suggests how much care went into the sound. It's a good one to put on when you have time to hear the band stretch out.
