Transmission - Moonloop EP
Transmission IV is the fourth and last of the Transmission releases that Porcupine Tree put out for subscribers to their information service. Issued in 2001 on Delerium Records, it was a fan club edition limited to 500 copies, so it was never meant for the general record shop browser.
The EP centres on a complete improvisation of what would later be "Moonloop", the piece that appears on The Sky Moves Sideways, the band's 1995 album. Hearing it here is a chance to follow a long, free-flowing progressive rock idea in its looser form. A 2006 reissue reproduces the original fan club release exactly, with remastering by Steven Wilson, which makes it easier to track down for curious listeners today.
