Stars Die: The Delerium Years ’91–97
Stars Die: The Delerium Years '91–97 is a compilation of Porcupine Tree's early work, released on 25 March 2002 through Kscope. It gathers material from the period when the band were signed to the Delerium label, before they moved on to Snapper/K-Scope and the more song-focused direction of Stupid Dream.
That makes it a handy way into the group's first chapter. Those years take in On the Sunday of Life… and Up the Downstair, which Melody Maker called "a psychedelic masterpiece", and The Sky Moves Sideways, which led the press to dub them the "Pink Floyd of the nineties". It also reaches Signify, the first album played by all four members together. For anyone who knows the later records, it shows where Steven Wilson's psychedelic and progressive rock began.
