Torn Down: Mixed Up Extras 2018
Torn Down: Mixed Up Extras 2018 is a remix album from The Cure and a follow-up to 1990's Mixed Up. It came out on 21 April 2018, Record Store Day, which also happened to be Robert Smith's 59th birthday. The project had been talked about since 2009, and Smith once suggested it would feature favourite bands reworking Cure songs.
In the end he did the job himself, making sixteen new mixes with one song taken from each studio album in order. He leaned towards the more esoteric corners of the catalogue, such as The Drowning Man, rather than the obvious choices. A three-disc deluxe edition adds remastered Mixed Up Extras 2018: Remixes 1982–1990, and it sits within the band's wider reissue campaign. For fans, it's a chance to hear deep cuts through the singer's own ears.
