Concert: The Cure Live
Concert: The Cure Live was the band's first live album, released in October 1984 on Fiction. It was recorded during the tour for The Top, with performances at London's Hammersmith Odeon and in Oxford, and it arrived in the same year as that studio record.
It sits between the bleak intensity of the early albums, from Three Imaginary Boys through Pornography, and the brighter turn the band took with The Head on the Door in 1985. That makes it a useful snapshot of the group mid-transition. The cassette edition is worth tracking down too, since its B-side carried Curiosity (Killing the Cat): Cure Anomalies 1977-1984, a companion collection of rarities and oddities from the band's first seven years.
