Trilogy
Trilogy is a live album and video from The Cure, released on 3 June 2003 on Eagle Vision. It was filmed at the Tempodrom in Berlin on 11 and 12 November 2002, during shows in which the band played Pornography, Disintegration and Bloodflowers in full, each in album order. Robert Smith began planning the concerts after watching David Bowie perform a whole album in sequence at the Royal Festival Hall that summer.
The line-up was Smith, Simon Gallup, Perry Bamonte, Jason Cooper and Roger O'Donnell. Two DVDs carry the three sets, followed by an encore of "If Only Tonight We Could Sleep" and "The Kiss", and two band interviews, one of them hidden. There is also a "mic cam" fixed to Smith's microphone pole, which gives a fish-eye view of him singing. It was later reissued on Blu-ray. For anyone who loves the band's darkest, most immersive records, it is a rare chance to hear them as complete works.
