Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac
Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac is the band's debut album, released on 3 June 1968 on the Blue Horizon label. It sits right at the start of the story, years before the line-up that made Rumours, and it is the only Fleetwood Mac album with no involvement from Christine McVie. Instead, the spotlight falls on guitarists Peter Green and Jeremy Spencer, who also share the singing.
The record mixes blues covers with originals written by the two guitarists, and it is a good place to hear the band as a British blues outfit. It did well at home without a hit single, reaching No. 4 in the UK and staying on the chart for 37 weeks. In the US it barely scraped into the Billboard 200, peaking at No. 198. An expanded version later appeared in the box set The Complete Blue Horizon Sessions.
