Album
Bare Trees
Bare Trees is Fleetwood Mac's sixth studio album, released on 6 March 1972 on Reprise Records. It sits in the band's early-seventies phase, before the Buckingham/Nicks line-up reshaped their fortunes, and it blends rock, blues rock and pop rock. It was also the last record to feature Danny Kirwan, who was fired during the tour that followed.
Kirwan's presence is a big part of the story here. Mick Fleetwood singled out his contribution, praising his skill with layering techniques and his instinct for what worked in the studio. The album reached number 70 on the US Billboard 200 that June, then returned to the chart at number 182 in September 1975 as the band's later success drew listeners back. It was certified platinum in the US in 1988. A good place to hear the band before the global fame arrived.
